Location Workshops

Location sessions are planned for photogenic areas in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region during 2025.  Outdoor sessions tend to begin early in the day and extend into late afternoon and early evening for the best light. Midday hours are spent reviewing appropriate lens focal lengths for landscape, wildlife and even outdoor portraits.  You will learn proper camera ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture settings for a wide range of outdoor situations including waterfalls, overcast days and sunsets.  You will learn how night sky differs from daytime photography.  The Saturday morning session begins at 9 AM.  The meeting place will be provided when a reservation is made.  The morning session will break around 12 Noon for two hours.  The afternoon session will begin at 2 PM and continue to sunset.  The Sunday morning session will begin at 7 AM at a designated meeting place.  We’ll spend about two hours there before heading to the next location.  The morning session will break around 11 AM for lunch.  The Sunday afternoon session will begin at 1 PM and end at 4 PM.  Total session time is about 15 hours.  Bring your camera, two fresh batteries, a battery charger and an empty memory card.  Some good walking shoes and outdoor attire for changing weather conditions are recommended.  You will own the copyrights to all the pictures you take. If a model is in the photo you will need a models release before you can publish the photo.
