Studio Workshops

 Studio Workshop Sessions

Studio sessions will include high speed strobe lights with radio controlled triggers, umbrellas and soft box light modifiers and ten foot wide backgrounds.  Bring your camera, a fresh battery, a battery charger and an empty memory card.  If your camera is not compatible, a camera and lens will be provided.  The morning session will begin at 10 AM and will break for lunch at 1 PM. Return for the afternoon session at 2 PM which will end at 5 pm. The first Sunday session will begin at 12 Noon with a break for lunch at 2 PM. The Sunday afternoon session will begin at 3pm and will end at 7 PM. Total session time is 12 hours.  Still life objects will be used during the Saturday sessions. You will learn how to control shadows and highlights and create different lighting moods.  You will learn how to balance each strobe in a multi light set up.  During the Sunday sessions you will learn how to shoot with a live model.  How to properly communicate with the model, give directions and adjust the lighting for best results. You will learn proper lens focal lengths for head shots and full body shots.  Camera settings including ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture will be fully discussed.  Upon completion you will own the copyrights to the photos you take, but a ‘models release’ will be required if you plan to publish any of your pictures for any reason. Check the schedule below for Studio Workshops in your area.  Sometimes we’ll meet at a church.  Not that Studio Sessions are some sort of religious experience, but the church surely could use the rental income.
